Jeonnam Province Creates Safe Civil Complaint Environment for Both Complainants and Officials

[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province is accelerating efforts to create a safe environment for both residents and public officials.

The province announced on the 15th that it conducted a simulation drill to prepare for emergency situations involving unusual civil complaints that may occur during civil service responses.

This simulation drill was carried out jointly by civil service officials from Jeonnam Province's civil complaint departments, security officers, and the Muan Police Station.

It was promoted to respond quickly and actively to emergencies such as verbal abuse, assault, and property damage, protecting public officials and residents exposed to danger and creating a safe civil complaint environment.

The drill was conducted assuming a case where a civil complainant committed verbal abuse, assault, or property damage.

According to the civil complaint response manual, efforts focused on calming and mediating the complainant, recording and filming, restraining by security officers, checking the operation of emergency bells, rapid communication and dispatch of the police station to prevent secondary damage to visiting complainants and protect public officials.

In particular, the drill enhanced response effectiveness by simulating an actual situation where police officers dispatched through an emergency bell directly connected to the Muan Police Station subdued and arrested the offending complainant.

Jeong Aesook, Director of the Jeonnam Province Resident Happiness Communication Office, said, “It is most important to promptly protect civil service officials and prevent secondary damage to visiting complainants according to a systematic manual when unusual civil complaints such as verbal abuse, assault, and property damage occur,” adding, “We will make multifaceted efforts to create a safe working environment and provide prompt civil service.”
