Break Through the Rugged 'Sanak'... Extreme Mountain Sports 'Cheongsong Motorcycle Cross-Country Championship' to be Held

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The extreme sport of motorcycle racing through rugged mountains will take place in Cheongsong, Gyeongbuk, the birthplace of mountain sports.

Cheongsong County will host the '2022 Cheongsong Motorcycle Cross-Country Championship' on the 19th at the river in Ongjeom-ri, Pacheon-myeon, and the mountain course of Taehaengsan in Cheongsong-eup.

This event is organized by the Korea Enduro Federation and supervised by the Cheongsong County Sports Council and Cheongsong Motorsports Federation. Sponsored by Cheongsong County and the Cheongsong County Council, the competition features individual events in mountain motorcycle cross-country.

Cross-country is a high-level extreme sport that requires quick reflexes and technique, involving riding through challenging courses. About 700 club members from across the country will participate in this event, racing fiercely through rough terrain to showcase their skills.

Prior to the competition, on the 18th at 4 p.m., an Enduro Cross event (qualifiers) will be held at the Dalgiyak Sutang parking lot. On the 19th, after the opening ceremony at the same location, a parade of hundreds of mountain motorcycles will proceed from the starting point at Ongjeomgyo in Pacheon-myeon starting at 9:30 a.m.

Following that, from 10 a.m., the start for each class will take place at the Ongjeomgyo start line, roaring with thunderous noise piercing the sky.

Yoon Kyung-hee, the governor of Cheongsong County, said, “We will promote Cheongsong County as the mecca of mountain sports nationwide and actively promote local agricultural specialties such as Cheongsong apples to contribute to revitalizing the local economy.”
