[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Enbionia, a specialized advanced composite materials company, announced on the 14th that it has signed an exclusive raw material supply contract through a business partnership with Toray Advanced Materials.
Enbionia will receive exclusive supply of raw materials for manufacturing meta-aramid paper from Toray Advanced Materials until 2036 and plans to establish its own mass production facility using a unique wet process method by 2025.
Additionally, both companies have pledged to cooperate in all areas including procurement, technology, sales, and marketing to maximize mutual benefits for the success of the meta-aramid paper business. Their initial plan is to make every effort to enter and stabilize in the electric vehicle market.
Meta-aramid is characterized by excellent heat resistance, electrical insulation, and ease of processing. It is mainly used in eco-friendly mobility such as electric and hydrogen vehicles for drive and starter motors, alternators, as well as ultra-high voltage transformers and circuit breakers for power generation, parts and interiors for aerospace, aviation, and railroads, and protective clothing such as firefighting suits. Currently, the American company DuPont holds a dominant market position.
The two companies plan to prepare for the future materials market, including eco-friendly mobility, through collaboration in the fields of meta-aramid base materials and applied materials.
