[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] SsangYong Motor announced that it has started accepting pre-orders from the 13th ahead of the launch of its new mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Torres.
On the same day, the company revealed key exterior images, specifications, and prices for the first time. The T5 trim is priced between 26.9 million and 27.4 million KRW, and the T7 trim ranges from 29.9 million to 30.4 million KRW. Exact prices will be disclosed in line with the launch next month.
The company stated that the vehicle was developed with a retro sensibility that reinterprets the traditional SUV style with a modern touch. Looking at the exterior revealed on this day, the front features a short and repetitive vertical-type radiator grille with a vertical lattice pattern and a bumper integrated with a skid plate, giving a strong and rugged impression.
The side is harmoniously styled with straight character lines and diverse changes on the upper side. The rear aims to embody the traditional SUV style with a hexagon-type rear garnish shaped like a spare tire and LED lamps.
The cargo space has been expanded. It offers 703 liters (VDA standard), capable of fitting four golf bags and four Boston bags simultaneously. Folding down the second row increases the space to 1,662 liters. It was designed with leisure activities such as camping and car camping in mind. The vehicle combines a GDI turbo engine with a 3rd generation Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission.
Starting from the entry-level T5 model, advanced safety features are applied as standard, including ▲Blind Spot Assist Warning ▲Front Vehicle Start Warning (FVSW) ▲Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) ▲Forward Collision Warning (FCW) ▲Lane Departure Warning (LDW) ▲Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) ▲Driver Attention Warning (DAW) ▲Safe Distance Warning (SDW) ▲Multi-Collision Prevention System.
The exterior colors include seven single-tone options such as Forest Green and Iron Metal, and five two-tone options, totaling 12 colors. The interior offers four options including black. Customizable products suited for leisure environments, such as a side storage box on the C-pillar side, are available.
The company plans to hold an event giving a multi-purpose tool canvas developed in collaboration with the outdoor brand Highbrow to customers who make pre-orders.
