[Seoul District Photo News] Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, Attends Ecological Market 'Ma.Deul.Jang' Meeting in the Village on the 11th

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) held the '2022 Children and Youth Participation Organization Appointment Ceremony and Workshop' at 2 p.m. on the 11th in the main auditorium on the 2nd floor of the district office.

This event was organized to award appointment certificates to children and youth who will be active in the 'Children and Youth Council,' 'Children and Youth Participation Committee,' and 'I am also an Architect' programs, and to guide their future activities.

The Children and Youth Council consists of 43 children and youth under the age of 18 from Nowon-gu. It is composed of four standing committees in the fields of education, culture and sports, human rights and welfare, and safety and environment, supported by a support group of 14 members from the public, government, and academia. Their main activities include monthly sessions, policy discovery proposals, and submitting ordinance drafts to the plenary session.

The Children and Youth Participation Committee, unlike the Children and Youth Council, does not base its activities on legislative processes or laws but carries out free policy proposals and campaigns, including youth participation budget activities. It consists of 12 members in total.

The 'I am also an Architect' activists aim for direct participation by reflecting the opinions of children and youth in the construction and remodeling of children and youth facilities. It consists of 20 members in total.

The event was attended by about 120 people, including Mayor Oh Seung-rok, members of the Children and Youth Council, Participation Committee, I am also an Architect, support group, instructors, and parents. The program proceeded in the order of the appointment ceremony and commemorative photo, congratulatory speeches, and workshops by each participation organization.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, "Each of you who received the appointment certificate today is a representative of Nowon children and youth," adding, "We will actively support so that your opinions can be reflected in district administration, so please provide various opinions."

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the ‘Ma.Deul.Jang’ held at Deungnamu Neighborhood Park at 1 p.m. on the 11th.

‘Ma.Deul.Jang’ is an event designed to ▲ connect ecological production and consumption between urban and rural areas ▲ exhibit and sell urban farmers’ garden produce and handicrafts ▲ provide opportunities for residents to showcase their talents through various performances.

At the market, various eco-friendly agricultural and marine products, handicrafts made by local residents, a campaign to reduce food waste, and an event where donating paper shopping bags would earn participants fresh potatoes attracted many residents enjoying their weekend.

Also, the specially prepared ‘Water Mist Zone’ and the 'Water Playground' where children could play with water guns were filled with children cooling off from the summer heat.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok, who visited the event, toured the market, encouraged participating vendors, greeted local residents, and observed their reactions to the market.

Mayor Oh said, "Having an event zone for children makes this market enjoyable for the whole family, which is refreshing," adding, "We will strive to activate such opportunities where local residents can trust and purchase eco-friendly agricultural products."
