[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The total strike by the Cargo Solidarity has caused disruptions in the operation of hydrogen charging stations in the Daejeon area.
According to Daejeon Urban Corporation on the 8th, the entrance and exit roads to the petrochemical complex in Seosan, Chungnam were blocked as the Cargo Solidarity launched a total strike the previous day.
The local hydrogen charging stations receive hydrogen supplied from Deokyang Seosan Plant within the Seosan petrochemical complex. Due to the blockade of the entrance and exit roads the previous day, transporting hydrogen by trailer has also become difficult, explained the Daejeon Urban Corporation.
Currently, three hydrogen charging stations operate in Daejeon: Hakha in Yuseong-gu, Nangwol in Dong-gu, and Shindae in Daedeok-gu. Among these, the Hakha station is expected to have difficulty supplying hydrogen starting from the 8th, Nangwol station from the 9th, and Shindae station from the 10th.
Hydrogen is known to be transported and charged while loaded on trailers, making it difficult to stockpile large amounts of hydrogen at the charging stations.
A representative from Daejeon Urban Corporation said, “We are continuously consulting with suppliers to ensure hydrogen fuel can be supplied as soon as possible,” adding, “We are informing local hydrogen vehicle drivers that hydrogen charging may be difficult for the time being and asking for their cooperation.”
