Namwon-si Selected for Metaverse Yulang Namwon Contest... Secures 200 Million KRW in National Funding

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Young-gwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk, announced on the 7th that its project "Metaverse Platform, Yulang Namwon" was selected in the "2022 Metaverse·XR(VRAR) Convergence Content Production and Demonstration Support Project," securing 200 million KRW in national funding.

Hosted by the Jeonbuk VRAR Production Hub Center, this project was planned to create a virtual Namwon based on the materials of Namwon Daum-gwan, which preserves and exhibits Namwon's records, and to build a metaverse platform linking virtual and reality, providing a new experience of traveling around Namwon as if wandering.

Specifically, the bus first introduced in Namwon will be recreated as an experience booth, developed into a multi-sensory immersive content where parents and children who want to share Namwon stories can board and enjoy together.

In particular, this selection marks the fourth achievement for Namwon Daum-gwan, following 2018, 2020, and 2021, recognizing the efforts and purpose of linking the somewhat rigid subject of records with tourism.

Jeong Nam-hoon, Head of the Administrative Support Division, said, "We will continue to process Namwon's modern and contemporary history and records into valuable content to grow Namwon Daum-gwan into a place visited by more people."

Meanwhile, Namwon Daum-gwan, equipped with exhibitions of Namwon's modern and contemporary records and various experiential contents, operates from Tuesday to Sunday every week and is open for free from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
