Ballerina Kim Ji-young's Choreography Draws Attention... Top Production Team of Children's Musical 'Join Forces'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Sejong Center for the Performing Arts announced on the 2nd that it will present the family musical play "Tchaikovsky of Baekjo Village," targeting summer vacation and holiday periods, from July 22 to 31 at M Theater.
"Tchaikovsky of Baekjo Village" is a classical musical play newly arranged and composed for children’s audiences, featuring representative works of composer Tchaikovsky such as the ballet suites "Swan Lake," "Piano Concerto No. 1," and "The Nutcracker - Dance of the Reed Flutes." It is the second program in the "Sejong Children’s Series."
The production will feature familiar pieces such as the "Scene" and "Waltz" from "Swan Lake," "Piano Concerto No. 1," and "Dance of the Reed Flutes" from the ballet suite "The Nutcracker," performed live by a 10-member ensemble. Additionally, the character "Music Teacher Tchaikovsky," set against the backdrop of "Swan Lake," will narrate the story, creating an engaging combination of Tchaikovsky’s music and ballet.
Composer Shin Dongil, who has won the Yegreen Musical Award for Best Music in the Children and Youth category and has continued various works, director Jang Suchul, who collaborated on numerous musical plays such as "Pepe’s Dream" and "Mozart and Mozzarella’s Magic Flute Story," and writer Lee Hyunsu have reunited once again for this children’s musical play. Furthermore, former principal dancer of the National Ballet Company Kim Jiyoung participated as choreographer to enhance the production’s completeness.
"Tchaikovsky of Baekjo Village" tickets will be available for reservation from 4 p.m. on the 3rd through Sejong Culture Ticket and other booking platforms.
