[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] On the 2nd, Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced that it is recruiting trainees for the ‘Warm Homemade Rice Baking’ program to promote proper understanding and consumption of rice.
This training involves practical cooking sessions using kitchen tools such as air fryers, steamers, and frying pans to easily make various dishes at home using rice and local agricultural products as ingredients.
The program consists of theoretical education on understanding Korean rice and how to use rice flour, as well as practical sessions including ‘Pear Juice Glutinous Rice Muffins,’ ‘Sweet Pumpkin Castella Injeolmi,’ ‘Steamed Barley Cake,’ ‘Rice Flour Sweet Potato Pound Cake,’ and ‘Naju Pear Rice Cake Soup Pizza.’
The trainees include 25 people such as Korean rice processors and food service operators, regional leaders in rice consumption, and farmers related to Korean rice. Applications can be submitted online through the lifelong learning information section on the city hall website from the 3rd to the 7th.
The training will be held eight times from the 21st of this month to the 13th of next month, every Tuesday and Wednesday, at the Agricultural Technology Center’s Farmer Education Hall, combining both in-person and online sessions.
Cho Seong-eun, head of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “We hope this will be an opportunity to respond to the decreasing rice consumption due to westernized eating habits and to increase the utilization of rice as a flour substitute,” adding, “We expect the trainees to take the lead in expanding the excellence and consumption culture of rice.”
