[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Junho] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 31st that it will carry out visiting disinfection activities until November.
This disinfection was conducted to prevent the occurrence and spread of infectious diseases and to create a pleasant residential environment.
In particular, due to global warming and abnormal climate phenomena, the increase in the occurrence of Japanese encephalitis-carrying mosquitoes and sanitary pests, along with the earlier activity period, has led to this measure being prepared for preemptive blocking.
The targets for visiting disinfection are ▲ recipients and near-poor households under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act ▲ national veterans ▲ severely disabled persons with grades 1 to 3 disabilities ▲ elderly living alone aged 65 or older ▲ families with three or more children and multicultural families ▲ detached houses in areas scheduled for residential environment improvement and redevelopment.
Residents living in detached houses who wish to receive disinfection can apply at the Dong Administrative Welfare Center, and the Dong-gu Public Health Center will collect applicants at the end of each month, organize schedules, and visit the households to carry out disinfection in yards, sewers, septic tanks, etc., excluding the interior of the houses.
Applications are limited to once per household per year, and for further details, inquiries can be made to the Health Project Division Infectious Disease Management Section.
A Dong-gu official said, “We will do our best to promote residents' health and create a pleasant living environment by systematically and efficiently blocking various infectious diseases in advance through disinfection.”
