[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The Gyeongbuk Office of Education conducted a ‘Global Citizenship Education Teacher Capacity Building Training’ on May 28 at the Daegu International Development Cooperation Center (inside Keimyung University Seongseo Campus).
This training was organized to share various teaching cases and teaching-learning process plans that can be applied in school settings, focusing on the theme of ‘Human Rights and Environment,’ led by central leading teachers from the Gyeongbuk Office of Education and leading teachers from city and provincial offices of education.
This year, the Office of Education is strengthening global citizenship awareness and democratic citizenship education by sharing and seeking solutions to common global issues such as human rights, food, environment, and war through teacher training, research support, and budget support for global citizenship education.
The training, conducted for this purpose, was hosted by the Central Leading Teacher Research Association for Global Citizenship Education and was attended by a total of 31 participants, including leading teachers from elementary, middle, and high schools in city and provincial offices of education, as well as other teachers wishing to participate in the training.
Starting with ‘Understanding Global Citizenship Education,’ the training continued with sessions divided into elementary and secondary sections, sharing teaching cases on human rights and environment and introducing learning process plans applicable to actual school classes, all carried out with the passion and interest of the attending teachers.
Lee Kyung-ok, Director of the Education Welfare Division, said, “I would like to express my gratitude to all the teachers who conducted and participated in this training,” adding, “We will spare no interest and support at the Office of Education level to maximize educational effects through the full application of global citizenship education in school settings.”
