Kwon Young-gil and Kim Jae-yeon Campaign for Ulsan Dong-gu Candidate Kim Jong-hoon on the 31st... 'First Progressive Group Leader in 11 Years'

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Former Democratic Labor Party leader Kwon Young-gil, Progressive Party co-leader Kim Jae-yeon, and Korean Confederation of Trade Unions chairman Yang Kyung-soo will campaign in support of Kim Jong-hoon, candidate for Dong-gu Mayor in Ulsan, on the 31st.

On the 30th, the Progressive Party announced that candidate Kim would begin election campaigning at 6 a.m. on the final day of the June 1 local elections at the West Gate of Hyundai Heavy Industries in Dong-gu, Ulsan.

Candidate Kim plans to appeal to workers heading to work, saying, "Please vote for Kim Jong-hoon, the only capable alternative to revive Ulsan Dong-gu."

At 11:20 a.m., he will participate in a press conference at the Ulsan City Council press room to appeal for support for the unified progressive candidate in the Ulsan region.

At this event, former Democratic Labor Party leader Kwon, co-leader Kim, and chairman Yang will join to urge support for candidate Kim, who can check the unilateral dominance of the Yoon Seok-yeol government and the People Power Party. In particular, former leader Kwon has visited the Ulsan area three times this month, putting all his efforts into the election of Kim, the unified progressive candidate.

Candidate Kim has been in a three-way race with People Power Party candidate Cheon Ki-ok and Democratic Party candidate Jeong Cheon-seok, closely competing with Cheon within the margin of error. After Jeong withdrew during the public official election law trial process, the race was reorganized into a two-way contest with Cheon, increasing Kim's chances of winning.

A Progressive Party official explained, "If candidate Kim is elected, it will be the first time in 11 years since 2011 that a progressive party has produced a basic local government head."
