Seocho Police Officer Suspected of Habitual Assault on Junior Colleague... Police Investigation Underway

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A police officer belonging to a frontline police station in Seoul has been reported for repeatedly assaulting a junior officer, prompting an investigation by the police.

According to the police on the 29th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency received a complaint on the 27th that Sergeant A, assigned to the Seocho Police Station in Seoul, habitually assaulted his junior team member, Corporal B, and is currently investigating the matter.

The day before, a post was made on the police internal bulletin board by someone claiming to be Corporal B's father, alleging that Sergeant A continuously harassed and assaulted Corporal B, who works in the same department.

Specifically, it was revealed that around 1 a.m. on the 25th, after a department gathering ended, Sergeant A slapped Corporal B's cheek about 30 times on the streets of Seocho-dong, Seoul, because B was about 10 minutes late after being called to run an errand for gimbap in the past, which Sergeant A took as disrespect.

It was also claimed that on the 11th of last month, Sergeant A repeatedly struck Corporal B's face and head while B was sitting in the passenger seat.

Meanwhile, a Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency official stated, "A complaint regarding this matter has been received, and an internal investigation will be conducted according to procedures."
