[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 29th, President Yoon Seok-yeol appointed Lee In-sil, president of the Korea Women Inventors Association, as the new Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO).


The Presidential Spokesperson's Office announced in the afternoon that President Yoon had appointed Lee as the Commissioner of KIPO.


The spokesperson's office explained the reason for the appointment, stating, "The appointee is the first patent attorney from Pusan National University and the third female patent attorney in Korea, recognized as the top expert who has worked in the field of intellectual property rights for over 30 years."


They added, "Lee has not only protected national interests in fierce international patent battles but has also participated in women's organizations for more than 20 years to expand women's economic participation. Currently, as president of the Korea Women Inventors Association, she is actively promoting support for women inventors and projects to discover female economic talent."


Furthermore, they emphasized, "Breaking past stereotypes and achieving remarkable success by challenging the new path of becoming a patent attorney, Lee is the ideal candidate to encourage and support the creative challenges of young people in Korea, lead the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and significantly contribute to making Korea a strong intellectual property nation."
