[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] The daughter of former President Moon Jae-in criticized the protesters in front of the Yangsan residence, calling them a "human barricade."
On the 28th, Moon posted on her Twitter a photo of the protest in front of the residence in Pyeongsan Village, Yangsan City, Gyeongnam, where former President Moon has been staying since his retirement, along with this criticism.
Moon appealed that due to the protests in front of the residence, the former president cannot even open the windows, describing it as being "like a mouse trapped inside the house." Regarding the ongoing protests, she said, "I wanted to check and was prepared to confront them," adding, "I thought the only person with a legitimate reason to step forward would be a child."
She continued, "I came down fiercely with the mindset that even if I had to go to jail together, at least it would be quiet, but the reality is despair and helplessness. We are numerically outnumbered."
She also fiercely criticized, "Is this really a rally? They are not pointing guns and shooting, but cornering us and verbally attacking us as if firing guns," adding, "They shout only hatred and curses as if excreting them."
Moon emphasized, "I have endured silently, deprived even of the right to live quietly as an individual, and I have done really well so far," and said, "There is no reason to endure any longer. Now, I will protect my parents."
In fact, protests by opposition groups and one-person demonstrations have continued around former President Moon's residence. Although the group that used loudspeakers and speakers day and night has withdrawn, one-person protests and small gatherings are reportedly still ongoing.
Former President Moon himself has also directly expressed his suffering. On the 15th, he criticized on Facebook, saying, "When I returned home, the noise of loudspeakers and insults from anti-loyalty groups are disturbing the peace and freedom of a small rural village on a Sunday." On the 27th, after voting at an early voting station in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, he briefly responded to questions about the protests, saying, "Yes, it is uncomfortable."
