[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] On the 29th, Yoon Ho-jung, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized President Yoon Seok-yeol's stance that the supplementary budget bill must be passed first before the summit meeting, calling it "an uncommunicative response that he will only meet if the supplementary budget that breaks his own pledge is passed."
On the same day, Chairman Yoon posted on his Facebook, stating, "When I proposed a summit meeting to discuss the supplementary budget for supporting small business owners, the response was a condition that the meeting would only take place if the supplementary budget is passed."
Chairman Yoon pointed out, "During the presidential election, candidate Yoon Seok-yeol promised retroactive compensation for small business owners' losses. However, the supplementary budget bill submitted by the government does not include a budget for retroactive compensation," adding, "It has poured cold water on the small business owners' flicker of hope."
He continued, "The reason the supplementary budget bill has not been passed in the National Assembly is because President Yoon broke his promise and said he cannot apply retroactive compensation," and said, "Before requesting the National Assembly to pass the supplementary budget, President Yoon should first apologize to the public for breaking the small business owners' pledge."
