Hanacard Partners with Hoyoverse to Launch Cards Featuring Popular Game Characters like Genshin
Shinhan Introduces 'LoL Check Card'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] The card industry is drawing attention as it continuously launches card products featuring various game characters to target the MZ generation (born between the 1980s and 2000s), who are familiar with online games.
According to the industry on the 29th, Hana Card recently partnered with HoYoverse to launch the 'HoYoverse Check Card.' HoYoverse is the company behind popular mobile games such as Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd, and Unsolved Cases.
Through this collaboration, players and members of games serviced by HoYoverse can choose one of four themed designs?'Honkai Impact 3rd Run,' 'Genshin Impact Bouncy Bomb,' 'Genshin Impact Slime Land,' and 'Unsolved Cases: Partner of Fate'?to issue their check card.
This card is a no-annual-fee check card that offers 5% Hana Money rewards when used at convenience stores, bakeries, coffee shops, and public transportation, with a monthly reward cap of 5,000 Hana Money. Additionally, the first 30,000 customers who apply for the check card will receive three types of redeem codes containing key in-game currencies and items such as Headquarters Supply Cards, Gems, and Mirim Chips for each game. The first 3,000 customers who use the card after issuance will also receive limited edition goods containing Shining Pearl cards from the three HoYoverse games.
Shinhan Card also launched the 'Shinhan Card FANtastic S Check (LoL),' which features five characters from the online game League of Legends (LoL) on the card plate. LoL is the top PC online game in Korea, with a market share of 44.6% in the fourth week of April.
The Shinhan LoL Check Card applies five main characters from LoL, including Jayce, onto the plate. It is expected to satisfy customers who want to collect physical plates featuring their favorite in-game characters.
Additional benefits have been added for the MZ generation who mainly enjoy gaming. When using simple payment through Shinhan Play, customers can receive up to 15% cashback. At social commerce platforms (Coupang, TMON), CU convenience stores, and Starbucks, customers can get up to 10% cashback on their spending. Cashback is provided once daily and up to four times monthly for transactions approved with amounts of 10,000 KRW or more. Cashback is capped at 2,000 KRW per transaction and the total cashback limit varies depending on the previous month’s spending performance.
Various events have also been prepared. Until July 31, customers who make at least one payment with the Shinhan LoL Check Card will be entered into a monthly draw where 2,000 winners will receive random in-game items. Furthermore, from July 18 to August 31, a lucky draw and quiz event will be held, offering generous prizes including a 'Mythic LoL Skin' worth approximately 250,000 KRW to selected participants.
