[Golf Topic] 'Number 2' Koda "Returning to US Women's Open After 4 Months"

[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…‘Number 2’ Nelly Korda (USA, photo) is returning to the field after 4 months.

On the 28th (Korean time), she wrote on her social media, "See you guys. uswomensopen next week." This will be her comeback after the Drive On Championship in February. Her name is also listed on the US Women's Open official website's player roster. She was diagnosed with thrombosis in mid-March and missed all events including last month's season first major Chevron Championship, undergoing surgery and focusing on treatment and recovery.

Last year, Korda won 4 times on the LPGA Tour, competing with Ko Jin-young (27) for the world No.1 ranking. She also won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. However, this year she has been held back by injury, playing only 3 tournaments in January and February. Her best result was a tie for 4th at the Tournament of Champions. The second major of the 2022 season, the US Women's Open, will be held from the 2nd of next month at Pine Needles Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina, USA. The defending champion is Yuka Saso (Japan).
