[Asia Economy Reporter Jo Seong-pil] It has been confirmed that the vehicle carrying Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate for Incheon Gyeyang District and the overall election committee chairman, was fined for running a red light.
On the 27th, the Mokpo Police Station in Jeollanam-do announced that they imposed a fine on Lee's vehicle for a traffic signal violation. The fine amounts to 70,000 KRW.
On the afternoon of the 15th, after finishing a campaign in Dohwa-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon, the candidate got into the vehicle. Despite the red light, the vehicle ignored the signal and proceeded. This incident was reported through the National Petition System on the 16th.
Although the signal violation occurred in Incheon, the fine was imposed by the Mokpo Police Station because of the vehicle's registration location. The candidate's vehicle is a rental car registered in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do.
