US Department of Defense: "Russia Lost 1,000 Tanks in Ukraine War"

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The U.S. Department of Defense estimated that Russia has lost nearly 1,000 tanks in its war with Ukraine, according to major foreign media reports on the 26th (local time).

In a briefing that day, the U.S. Department of Defense estimated that Russia has also lost more than 30 fighter jets, 50 helicopters, and 350 artillery pieces in addition to tanks.

However, despite significant losses, a U.S. Department of Defense official stated that Russia still retains considerable military strength.

The U.S. Department of Defense also analyzed that since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, it has deployed forces equivalent to about 110 battalions in the war. Furthermore, it added that this represents approximately 80% of Russia's total military forces.

Regarding recent combat situations, the U.S. Department of Defense explained that Russian forces are making gains and advancing toward Sloviansk and Kramatorsk in the northern part of Donetsk Province. It also added that small-scale battles have been continuing recently.
