[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] American actor Ray Liotta, who delivered impressive performances in the films Goodfellas and Field of Dreams, passed away at the age of 67 on the 26th (local time).

On the same day, entertainment media outlets such as The Hollywood Reporter and Variety reported that Liotta was found dead in his sleep the previous night while staying in the Dominican Republic for the filming of a new movie.

The exact cause of Liotta's death has not yet been disclosed.

Liotta was born in 1954 in Newark, New Jersey, USA, and first gained public recognition through the TV drama Another World in 1978.

In 1986, he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for Jonathan Demme's film Something Wild, earning acclaim for his acting skills.

His representative works are considered to be Field of Dreams (1989) and Goodfellas (1990).

In the baseball film Field of Dreams, starring Kevin Costner, Liotta left a deep impression playing the role of "Shoeless Joe." In Martin Scorsese's gangster film Goodfellas, he portrayed Henry Hill, the narrator and a real-life figure, compensating for his lower recognition compared to co-stars Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci with a strong performance.

Liotta remained active until recently, appearing in the 2019 Netflix film Marriage Story, and his final work was the Apple TV+ drama Black Bird, set to be released this year.

He is survived by his 23-year-old actress daughter Carson Liotta and fianc?e Jacy Nittolo.
