Over 4,800 Elementary Students in the Province Participate... Student Yang Hong-in Wins Grand Prize
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters announced on the 26th that it successfully concluded the final round of the 1st Jeonnam Province Children's Fire Science and Technology Competition.
On the 13th, 40 fifth-grade elementary school students from the province who passed the first preliminary round participated in the second final round held the day before via video through the mobile quiz app 'Ttaenggiji'.
The 40 participants in the final competed in 25 fire prevention quiz questions conducted in real-time online through mobile devices, and were awarded 6 Jeonnam Superintendent of Education Awards and prizes.
The grand prize winner was one student (Yang Hongin from Namak Elementary School, Muan), two students received the Excellence Award (Ryu Hoseop and Jeong Yuseon from Samseo Elementary School, Jangseong), and three students received the Merit Award (Jeong Taegon from Nampyeong Elementary School, Naju; Kim Hyunseok from Yeonggwang Elementary School, Yeonggwang; Lee Harin from Samsan Elementary School, Haenam).
About 4,800 elementary students and firefighters in the province watched their friends' competition in real-time through the quiz app and Jeonnam Fire YouTube channel, solving problems together and receiving small prizes through a raffle.
Additionally, while watching a promotional video on residential fire safety facilities produced by Jeonnam Fire, children were urged to prevent fires.
Yang Hongin (Namak Elementary School), who won the grand prize that day, said, "I was nervous solving the problems in real-time, but thanks to my friends' support, I am happy with the good result."
Kim Joil, Fire Headquarters Chief, stated, "I hope this becomes an opportunity for many students to participate by discovering good policies to improve safety culture awareness among growing children."
