[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] Former National Intelligence Service Director Park Ji-won criticized the ruling party, the Democratic Party of Korea, for being preoccupied with internal conflicts and neglecting "checks and balances" in relation to the personnel appointments of power institutions by the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.

On the 25th, Park posted on Facebook, saying, "Personnel is everything. If it becomes a disaster, the country will fail."

Park mentioned, "(President Yoon) carried out personnel appointments for tax, prosecution, and police power institutions one after another like lightning within 16 days of his inauguration, and also made appointments for seven generals, including the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, whose term is guaranteed, and the Chiefs of Staff of the Army, Navy, and Air Force."

He continued, "Now that the National Intelligence Service Director confirmation hearing is over, the follow-up appointments are also drawing attention. The people hope for the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration."

Park then referred to the recent internal conflict within the Democratic Party surrounding the apology of Park Ji-hyun, the party's co-chair of the Emergency Committee, stating, "Ahead of the election, they are firing shots at their own members, so they are just watching from the sidelines as personnel appointments, livelihood, and the economy are neglected." This is a criticism that the Democratic Party is failing to fulfill its role. Park also urged the political circles, saying, "Both the ruling and opposition parties must be smart for the country to survive and for the people to make a living," asking them to work for the people.

In political circles, there is an assessment that former Director Park, who expressed his ambition to "seize microphone power" by appearing on TV after retirement in an interview with the Chosun Ilbo on the 7th, has gradually begun to "open his mouth."
