[Asia Economy Reporter Tae-min Ryu] With the revival of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office Joint Investigation Team on Financial and Securities Crimes (Joint Investigation Team), major law firms are consecutively forming dedicated teams to respond.


According to the legal community on the 25th, the law firm Hwawoo recently launched a 'Financial and Securities Investigation Response Task Force (TF).' This TF is composed of a Regulatory Response Team and an Investigation Response Team. The Investigation Response Team includes numerous former prosecutors, including Kim Young-ki (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 30), who served as the head of the Securities Crime Joint Investigation Team.


The TF's Investigation Response Team also includes attorney Yoon Hee-sik (class 23), who served as the chief prosecutor of the Financial and Tax Investigation Division 3 at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office and as the head of the Review and Analysis Office at the Financial Intelligence Unit; attorney Lee Sun-bong (class 27), also a former chief prosecutor of the same division; and attorney Seo Young-min (class 25), who was in charge of financial and securities crimes as the head of the Criminal Division 5 at the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office.


Other law firms are also rushing to establish dedicated teams. Law firm Sejong is reported to have expanded and reorganized its existing Capital Market Unfair Trade Team to launch the 'Financial Securities Crime Investigation Response Center' in line with the reestablishment of the Joint Investigation Team. Law firm Yulchon has integrated its Financial Criminal Team and Financial Regulatory Team to create the 'Financial Asset Regulation and Investigation Response Center.'


Law firm Barun has also formed a 'Financial and Securities Crime Investigation Response TF,' deploying 15 attorneys. Among them are six former prosecutors, including attorney Song Gil-dae (class 30), who served as the head of the National Litigation Division at the Ministry of Justice.


Law firm Bae, Kim & Lee recently formed a 'Capital Market Unfair Trade Advisory Task Force (TF).' The TF includes several former prosecutors such as attorney Kim Beom-gi (class 26), who served as the second deputy chief prosecutor at the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office during his tenure, and attorney Jung Soo-bong (class 25), who was involved in the launch of the Securities Crime Joint Investigation Team during his time as a prosecutor.
