[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Junho] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 25th that it has officially launched the non-face-to-face healing program ‘Spring for Me.’
This program was implemented for the first time this year to provide psychological support and promote leisure activities for home-based cancer patients residing in the district.
Organized by the Dong-gu Public Health Center, the program has been ongoing since the 1st of this month, targeting registered cancer patients receiving medical expense support.
To prevent physical exhaustion from long-term cancer treatment and the resurgence of COVID-19, all processes including participation application and delivery of materials are conducted non-face-to-face.
During this month, the first 20 registered cancer patients will receive up to five types of flowers per session, once a week for two weeks, via regular delivery through a courier service. Participants can receive the flowers at their desired location, such as their home or hospital during admission, and then freely engage in flower arranging activities.
After completing the flower arrangement, participants only need to send a photo of their finished work and submit a review via the KakaoTalk channel. For further details, inquiries can be made to the Visiting Health Care Department.
A Dong-gu official stated, “Although outdoor activities have become freer with the easing of social distancing, cancer patients still face difficulties in activities due to the risk of infection and long-term hospitalization for treatment,” adding, “We hope this flower arranging activity will provide a healing time to comfort the tired and weary hearts of those undergoing cancer treatment.”
