[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Junho] A drunk driver driving a cargo truck crashed onto a sidewalk, resulting in one death and one injury.

According to the Dongbu Police Station in Gwangju on the 25th, at around 11:16 a.m. that day, a 1-ton truck driven by a man in his 20s, Mr. A, ran onto the sidewalk in front of E-Mart in Gyelim-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.

As a result of the accident, a man in his 40s riding a bicycle died, and a man in his 60s walking on the street sustained serious lower body injuries.

Police breathalyzer tests confirmed that Mr. A was at a blood alcohol level warranting license cancellation at the time of the accident.

Mr. A reportedly stated during the police investigation, "I drank alcohol yesterday."

The police have booked Mr. A on charges of violating the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
