[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Jaeyeon, the Standing Representative of the Progressive Party, and all candidates running in Gwangju for the June 1 local elections held a press conference at 10 a.m. on the 25th in front of the Gwangju City Council and began an overnight campaign lasting 158 hours starting today.
The candidates plan to visit voters in every alley until the last day of the campaign period, earnestly appealing for the opportunity to work for the Progressive Party.
Kim Jooeop, candidate for mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, stated, “For the past four years, we have lived every day like an election campaign, living four years like a day and a day like four years, conveying this desperate and sincere heart to the citizens,” adding, “I want to show everything remaining during the last campaign period.”
He continued, “Citizens of Gwangju, I earnestly appeal for you to see and respond to the Progressive Party’s desperate and sincere heart,” emphasizing, “If you make the Progressive Party the first opposition party in Gwangju and the official negotiating group in the Gwangju City Council, we will return every drop of that heart to the residents without wasting any.”
Kim Jaeyeon, the Standing Representative, said, “The Progressive Party wants to make a change. For that, we need an opportunity. We need the power to work,” and appealed, “Perhaps after 158 hours, after winning, it is no different from a promise to endure hardships for four, eight years or more. We ask for your opportunity.”
