‘Tal’ Returns After 3 Years... Andong International Talchum Festival Video Contest

Creative Videos to Promote Festivals and Andong, Applications Open for General and Short-Form Categories Until August 22

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A video contest to promote the Andong International Mask Dance Festival to the world, held for the first time in three years after the COVID-19 curtain lifted, is underway.

The Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Korean Culture is hosting the "Andong International Mask Dance Festival 2022 Video Contest" until August 22.

The contest requires participants to cover two themes: the "Andong International Mask Dance Festival," a nationally recognized honorary cultural tourism festival selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the 2022 festival's main theme, "A Masked World, The Return of the Hero." The event aims to discover video content reflecting creative ideas.

The contest is divided into the "General Video Category" and the "Short-form Video Category." For the General Video Category, submissions should be MP4 files with no genre restrictions, between 3 to 5 minutes long (up to 300MB), in 1920×1080p (FHD) 60FPS or higher.

For the Short-form Video Category, submissions should be MP4 files between 15 to 60 seconds long (up to 300MB), in 16:9 or 4:3 vertical aspect ratios.

The Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Korean Culture will select one grand prize winner, two excellence award winners, and four encouragement award winners in the General Video Category through internal judging based on relevance, creativity, completeness, and practicality.

In the Short-form Video Category, one grand prize winner, two excellence award winners, and four encouragement award winners will be selected, with an awards ceremony scheduled for September 13.

Outstanding works from the contest will be used to promote the 2022 Andong International Mask Dance Festival and Andong city. The videos will be broadcast not only at the festival site but also through various promotional media for Andong.

A foundation official said, "We look forward to great videos that can promote the international mask dance festival returning after three years due to COVID-19," adding, "We aim to widely publicize the Andong International Mask Dance Festival and Andong city using these videos."
