InterContinental Displays Works by Korea's Leading Masters in Hotel Lobby InterContinental's 'True Luxury with Art'.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] The Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas is showcasing masterpieces by Korea’s leading masters in the hotel’s first-floor lobby and sponsoring the art fair “True Luxury with Art” in collaboration with Start Art Korea.

According to the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas on the 25th, 27 works by masters who have made significant marks in contemporary art, including Kim Chang-yeol, Kim Tae-ho, Kim Byung-jong, and Kim Geun-joong, will be exhibited until the end of next month. As the official sponsor of Start Art Fair Seoul 2022, the hotel plans to jointly support a global project to discover talented emerging artists.

The Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas has lowered the threshold so that anyone visiting the hotel can comfortably appreciate the large-scale works. In the hotel lobby, visitors can encounter two pieces titled “Return” from Kim Chang-yeol’s Water Drop series. Known as the “Painter of Water Drops,” Kim Chang-yeol is one of the artists who combines both artistic value and popularity. Three pieces from Kim Tae-ho’s Inherent Rhythm series, recognized as a representative of Korean modernism, are also on display. Inherent Rhythm is a bas-relief painting with a grid of warp and weft threads, offering vibrations and rhythms emanating from within the artwork. Four pieces from Kim Byung-jong’s Song of Life and two pieces from Kim Geun-joong’s Flower World, who boldly uses vivid colors as an Oriental painter, are also presented. Additionally, a total of 27 works by nine artists, including Kim Chun-ok, Hyeong Jin-sik, Lee Ae-ri, Byun Woong-pil, and Kim Myung-gyu, can be appreciated in one place.

Beyond the hotel exhibition, as the official sponsor of Start Art Fair Seoul 2022, the hotel plans to collaborate for the development of the Asian art market. On the 31st, the announcement and press conference for hosting Start Art Fair Seoul 2022, the first in Asia to be held in Seoul this September, will take place at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas. About ten artists, including David Ciclitira, founder of the UK’s Start Art Fair, world-renowned curator David Serenella, Kim Tae-ho, Kim Byung-jong, and Kim Geun-joong, will attend to explain the art fair and introduce the works exhibited on the hotel’s first floor through a curator’s presentation.

This masterpiece exhibition will run until the end of June, after which it will be replaced by trendy works by young artists and preview pieces from Start Art Fair Seoul 2022, continuing the exhibition until October. All works exhibited at the hotel are available for purchase through Start Art Korea.
