[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jung-gu announced that it will open the 'Jung-gu Garden Support Center' on the 26th to spread garden culture in daily life.
The Jung-gu Garden Support Center is a resident education space where people can learn and experience the theory and practice of garden creation and management. It was established in a vacant space near Jungbu Market. The center's operation is entrusted to the 'Seoul Citizens Garden Society,' selected through a public contest.
The 82.54㎡ education room features a vertical garden on the interior walls, allowing residents to enjoy education in a green environment. The vertical garden is known to be effective not only for air purification but also for reducing indoor temperatures during summer.
Various experiential programs will be operated simultaneously with the opening on May 26.
First, a resident-tailored garden education program called 'Let's Get Friendly with Gardens' will be held from the 26th to increase residents' interest and enthusiasm for gardens and gardening.
This education, conducted 14 times until November, is filled with experiential programs that anyone can easily and enjoyably participate in, such as ▲succulent plant collection ▲indoor plant hydroponics ▲terrarium making.
Applications can be submitted through the Seoul Citizens Garden Society's KakaoTalk channel.
Meanwhile, the 'Village Gardener Training Program,' which cultivates residents' capabilities to participate directly in alleyway management and greening, will be held in nine sessions from June 14 to October. It covers all processes of garden creation, from types and cultivation methods of garden plants to pest management, landscaping, and spatial design.
In the final class, one village gardener group and one citizen gardener will form a team to practice creating a garden directly.
The district plans to provide incentives when residents who complete the Village Gardener Training Program apply for temporary worker positions or public projects to participate in the creation and management of parks, green spaces, and gardens in the area.
On every Tuesday and Thursday, anyone can freely use the plant and garden-related books available at the center. Consultations on plant cultivation and management are also provided. For more details, contact the Jung-gu Office's Parks and Greenery Division.
A district official said, "We plan to offer various programs so that residents living in the bleak urban environment can learn the joy of cultivating their own gardens and further contribute to the expansion of surrounding green spaces."
Jungnang-gu is recruiting the 10th Jungnang-gu Internet Broadcasting Station (JBN) student reporter group, which covers and introduces local news from a student's perspective, until June 3.
The JBN student reporter group has been operating since 2013 to help local high school students with their academic and career choices, producing about 90 student reporters to date.
Selected student reporters can experience various broadcasting fields such as monitoring Jungnang-gu Office's YouTube content, planning articles, news coverage, and reporting until December this year.
Along with reporter activities, they will receive a total of 12 media education sessions at the 'Talent Sharing Broadcasting Academy.' They will learn broadcasting basics, article writing, reporting, announcing, filming, and directing from JBN PDs and announcers. Additionally, at the newly opened Jungnang Media Center this year, they will conduct practical training with exclusive programs for JBN student reporters and invite broadcasting experts for special lectures.
The recruitment target is local high school first and second graders who wish to pursue careers in journalism, PD, announcer, broadcast writing, or related fields. Interested students should submit an application form and self-introduction letter via email to the person in charge by June 3. After document screening and phone interviews, 10 final candidates will be selected on June 8.

Yeongdeungpo-gu announced that it will promote the 'Online Market Support Project with Popogre' to strengthen the online market competitiveness and expand marketing channels for social economy enterprises.
In March, the district secured a total subsidy of 40 million KRW by presenting the development potential and growth vision of 'Popogre,' Yeongdeungpo-gu's social economy in-house brand, in the Seoul Social Economy Regional Specialization Project contest.
Considering the non-face-to-face consumption trend and technological advancements accelerated after the COVID-19 outbreak, the district plans to invest about 21 million KRW of the secured subsidy in online market support.
Since registering the trademark for 'Popogre,' the social economy joint brand of Yeongdeungpo-gu, in August 2020, the district has been conducting various support projects such as promotional marketing and business consulting for social economy enterprises in the region.
This online market support project also aims to showcase excellent products of social economy enterprises to consumers using Popogre's official website and support procedures for opening online e-commerce stores to expand distribution channels.
In April, eight social economy enterprises were selected to participate in the online market support project, and the project officially started in May.
The district plans to ▲plan rebranding and packaging of products sold on online smart stores incorporating 'Popogre' ▲transfer know-how on renewal design utilization strategies and package development.
From July, the district will ▲support the opening and company certification procedures of Naver Smart Store ▲assist in creating detailed pages for the smart store.
From early September, when the detailed pages are completed, consumers will be able to purchase products from the eight social economy enterprises in the region through the Naver Smart Store page.
A district official said, "Starting with this online market support project, we will promote various practical policy projects that can spread social value in the region. We will continue to do our best to help companies that create shared value and realize sustainable social value grow together with the local community."

A Global Share official said, "We will continue sharing for neighbors in need within Seongbuk-gu's welfare blind spots."
