Seongju Life Culture Festival Selected for Gyeongbuk Province's 'Metaverse Festival' Contest Project

Securing 50 Million KRW for Platform Construction Costs

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] The representative festival of Seongju, Gyeongbuk, the ‘2022 Seongju Life Culture Festival,’ has been selected for the Gyeongbuk Province Metaverse Festival contest, securing 50 million KRW for building a metaverse platform for Seongju County.

Earlier this year, Gyeongbuk Province declared itself the ‘Metaverse Capital Gyeongbuk’ and introduced contest projects to aggressively build a metaverse ecosystem.

The Seongju Life Culture Festival solidified its position as a representative festival of Gyeongbuk by being selected as an excellent festival by Gyeongbuk Province in January and also being chosen for the metaverse festival contest.

This year’s Seongju Life Culture Festival is tentatively scheduled to be held for 10 days from August 5 to 14, under the theme ‘Delivering Life Cultural Heritage in the Metaverse.’

Seongju County plans to create a metaverse platform where the cultural and humanities-social values of ‘Saeng (Life), Hwal (Living), Sa (Death)’ can be experienced and preserved.

Additionally, they intend to build a popular metaverse space that goes beyond a one-time platform to pass on the life cultural heritage possessed by Seongju to future generations.

A Seongju County official said, “We will do our best to make the Seongju Life Culture Festival a metaverse festival that can expand beyond the nation to the world through innovative planning and substantial operation.”
