[Asia Economy Reporters Naju-seok and Park Joon-yi] Kim Dong-yeon, the Democratic Party candidate for Governor of Gyeonggi Province, pleaded with voters on the 24th to "at least leave the seeds" in response to the 'judgment theory.' Kim promised to lead change within the Democratic Party. Regarding the supplementary budget bill, he urged the Democratic Party to handle it swiftly.

At a press conference held at the National Assembly Communication Office that day, Kim said, "Meeting with the people, I bow my head to the great disappointment toward our Democratic Party," adding, "We have made mistakes."

He said, "(The people) asked what we have done after giving us such great power, and scolded us, questioning whether endlessly fighting over issues unrelated to the lives of the people was the job of the ruling party," adding, "Now the Democratic Party has become an entrenched power no different from the People Power Party, and they are angry."

Kim said, "The people intend to judge not the Yoon Seok-yeol government in this local election, but the arrogant Democratic Party, the Democratic Party that has become an entrenched power," and added, "I will willingly accept that."

However, he said, "Even if you judge our Democratic Party, please leave the seeds," adding, "I, Kim Dong-yeon, will go to the grassroots and become the seed that will bring about change in the Democratic Party." He continued, "At the same time, I will be a support to check the arrogance and unilateralism of the new government," and said, "Please do not ignore or give up on us, even if you raise a cane to scold us."

Furthermore, Kim appealed to both ruling and opposition parties, saying, "Please handle the first supplementary budget of the Yoon Seok-yeol government proactively and swiftly." He said, "Measures for COVID-19 loss compensation and other livelihood policies are extremely urgent," adding, "This is not the time to consider electoral gains or losses in the face of desperate livelihoods. We must generously unite our strength to prepare for the upcoming economic crisis."
