On the 24th, Park Ji-hyun's "Emergency Press Conference": "Including the retirement of the 86 group, sufficient discussions for a younger Democratic Party... Announcement within this week"
Yoon Ho-jung, Emergency Committee Chairman: "Nothing agreed with the party"
[Asia Economy Reporters Oh Ju-yeon and Park Jun-i] On the 24th, Yoon Ho-jung, co-chairman of the Emergency Response Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, drew a line regarding the plan to prepare party reform measures, including the '568 Generation Retirement Theory' mentioned in the morning emergency press conference by co-chairman Park Ji-hyun, stating, "There has been no consultation with the party."
On the same day, after the launch ceremony of the Democratic Party's National Integration Political Change Promotion Committee held at the National Assembly in the morning, Chairman Yoon told reporters that the party leadership had not discussed Park's reform plan when asked, "Has the reform plan announced by Chairwoman Park been discussed with the leadership?" and said, "It has never been discussed."
When reporters further asked, "Chairwoman Park said she would discuss it in the future," Chairman Yoon replied, "It has not been discussed yet," adding, "I understand it as a personal statement."
Chairwoman Park held an emergency press conference at the National Assembly Communication Hall in the morning and bowed her head, saying, "I apologize a hundred times, a thousand times. Please trust Park Ji-hyun more. If given a chance in this local election, I will take responsibility and change the Democratic Party."
When asked by reporters about the criticism that "those from the 86 mainstream faction responsible for the election defeat should not run," she replied, "Regarding that point, there will be sufficient discussions within the party today and tomorrow, and an announcement will be made within this week."
She also said, "Regarding the retirement of the 86 generation and the process of drawing a picture for the Democratic Party to become a younger party, there needs to be discussions on what the current vested interests should do and what process the Democratic Party must go through to truly show reflection and reform."
