[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korea Customs Service announced on the 24th that it will hold a policy training session to facilitate trade from the 24th to the 27th by inviting high-ranking officials from the customs authorities of six Central Asian countries.
The training session is held with the purpose of establishing cooperative relationships between customs authorities specialized by region through the activation of human exchanges.
In particular, this month's training session is significant in that high-ranking customs officials from Central Asian countries rich in energy and natural resources gather to strengthen customs clearance cooperation amid the escalating global supply chain crisis.
The training session will be attended by 14 people including Akmalkhuja Mavlonov, Chairman of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan; Khurshed Karimzoda, Commissioner of the Customs Service of Tajikistan; Kairat Jumagulov, Deputy Head of Customs of Kazakhstan; as well as officials from Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, and senior officials from the Asian Development Bank.
During their visit to Korea, the attendees will tour production sites such as Hyundai Motor Company's Asan plant and have time to listen to the voices from domestic companies on site.
Yoon Tae-sik, Commissioner of the Korea Customs Service, said, "I hope that through this training session, human and material exchanges, which were limited due to COVID-19, will expand again with the Central Asian customs authorities with whom we have high economic cooperation," adding, "The Customs Service will strive to share Korea's electronic customs clearance system (UNI-PASS) and innovative customs administration such as goods monitoring using new technologies with Central Asian countries through the training session and lay the foundation for mutual cooperation."
