Expansion of Hiring in Semiconductor and Bio Sectors... "Investment Activities to Generate 1.01 Million Jobs"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jin-ho] Samsung Electronics will newly hire 80,000 employees over the next five years. The main point is to significantly increase new recruitment to create jobs and nurture future talent, and to continue maintaining the new employee recruitment system, which is currently the only one operated among the top five domestic conglomerates.
The large-scale investment plan announced by Samsung on the 24th includes extensive plans for job creation through direct hiring expansion and investment activities. Previously, Samsung exceeded the '40,000 hires over 3 years plan' announced in 2018 and also announced a plan to hire 40,000 people over 3 years last year. Samsung plans to further expand the scale of hiring centered on core businesses such as semiconductors and bio, which are the foundational technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, contributing to the creation of good jobs in the private sector.
Samsung is currently the only one among the top five conglomerates maintaining the new employee recruitment system. Samsung affiliates are currently conducting the '2022 first half new employee recruitment.' This year's new employees will go through ▲Samsung Aptitude Test (GSAT, May) ▲interviews (June) ▲health checkups (July), and are expected to join the company from the second half of the year.
In future hiring, Samsung plans to completely eliminate traditional discrimination based on ▲academic background ▲alma mater ▲gender, and actively participate in expanding quality youth jobs.
Additionally, to cultivate the innovative capabilities of the future generation of youth and nurture talent, Samsung will continue to support programs. To contribute to solving social challenges such as youth unemployment and polarization, Samsung plans to continuously operate programs to enhance employment competitiveness and talent development such as ▲Samsung Youth S/W Academy (SSAFY) and ▲Dream Class.
Furthermore, to spread Samsung's 'innovation DNA' and practice practical coexistence of 'growing together,' Samsung will also advance support programs for small and venture companies. The plan is not only to establish fair trade practices between large and small businesses but also to expand cooperative models that grow together by increasing the industrial ecosystem's pie.
Additionally, Samsung plans to actively support ▲advancement of smart factory support programs ▲strengthening safety nets through cooperative company coexistence programs ▲expanding support for basic science and fundamental technology R&D through industry-academia cooperation ▲startup boom-up and ecosystem expansion through C-Lab ▲and full-scale support for socially disadvantaged groups.
As Samsung proactively announced the expansion of youth hiring immediately after the new government’s inauguration, it is expected that other companies will follow with increased investment and employment.
