[Cannes (France) = Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The steadfast support and investment of CJ Group Vice Chairwoman Miky Lee shone brightly at Cannes this year.

On the 23rd (local time), Vice Chairwoman Lee attended the premiere screening of the 75th Cannes Film Festival competition invited film "Decision to Leave" (director Park Chan-wook) held at the Lumi?re Theater in Cannes, France.

Vice Chairwoman Lee, who watched "Decision to Leave" seated in the audience, gave a standing ovation when the film ended and the lights came on. She applauded while carefully watching director Park Chan-wook and actors Tang Wei and Park Hae-il. She then had a brief conversation with director Park and encouraged Tang Wei and Park Hae-il in turn. After the director and actors left, she approached writer Jung Seo-kyung and shared a hug.

Vice Chairwoman Lee previously supported Cannes by attending the official screening of "Parasite" (director Bong Joon-ho), which won the Palme d'Or in 2019, marking her return to Cannes after 10 years since "Thirst" (2009). She returned to Cannes after three years and attended the premiere screening to encourage the main cast.

CJ ENM's aggressive race, setting a record this year as the first Korean distributor to have two films simultaneously invited to compete at the Cannes Film Festival, also stands out.

The Cannes Film Festival provides accommodations at the Majestic, considered the finest hotel on the beachfront street, to the most esteemed directors and actors. It is like a base in Cannes. Therefore, the electronic billboards on the street in front of the Majestic command enormous advertising fees. This year, posters for CJ ENM's two competition invited films, "Decision to Leave" and "Broker" (director Kore-eda Hirokazu), occupy prominent positions. In the past, these billboards were often covered with posters from famous Hollywood studios, but this year, two K-movies filled the space.
