Junior colleges will recruit 166,588 new students for the 2024 academic year. This is a 6.5% (11,523 students) decrease compared to the previous year.

On the 25th, the Korea Council for College Education announced the key points of the '2024 Academic Year Junior College Admission Plan' established by 132 junior colleges.

The reduction in the number of new students next year is a proactive response to the declining school-age population and reflects changes in regional living conditions and the reorganization of departments related to future industries.

Among 131 junior colleges (excluding Nonghyup University), 91.9% (153,032 students) of the total recruitment will be through early admission. The regular admission quota is 8.1% (13,556 students). The early admission rate decreased by 0.3 percentage points from this year, and the number of early admission recruits decreased by 6.2% (10,054 students). Although the regular admission rate increased by 0.3 percentage points, the number of recruits decreased by 9.8% (1,469 students) compared to the previous year.
