[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Boseong-gun Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Park Ho-bae) announced on the 23rd that it will provide scholarships in the first half of this year to discover and nurture local talents.
The scholarship amount for the first half of the year increased by 32% compared to last year (174 million KRW).
A total of 228 million KRW in scholarships will be awarded to 355 recipients across nine categories including academic excellence, future talents, Hope Narae, and special designations (Kim Seon-gwang, Jang Dae-il).
Starting this year, four new scholarship categories?Hope Dream, Areumdri, Special Designation, and Blue Dream?have been established to prevent the outflow of outstanding talents.
Additionally, the previous restriction allowing only one scholarship application per household per year has been removed.
The Hope Dream scholarship supports students admitted to prestigious universities until their graduation.
The newly established Areumdri scholarship supports outstanding graduates from middle schools in other regions who enroll in local high schools, providing scholarships for three years of attendance.
In particular, the Daeseong Kim Seon-gwang Scholarship and Dasong Construction Jang Dae-il Scholarship, aimed at nurturing talents from their alma maters, are awarded under the name of Special Designation scholarships.
These scholarships are used as entrance congratulatory funds and scholarships for outstanding students at Boseong Middle School and Boseong Girls' Middle School, the donors’ alma maters, supporting a total of 123 students with 15 million KRW.
The Blue Dream scholarship supports creative activities in various arts and physical education fields.
Boseong-gun plans to intensify promotional efforts so that more students can benefit in the future.
In addition, the Boseong-gun Scholarship Foundation implements one specialized project per school beyond simple after-school learning activities.
The Education Development Policy (Talent Growth) project, which enhances school-specific expertise, provides 30 million KRW to four middle and high schools, and two vocational high schools each receive 10 million KRW for special aptitude development projects.
Chairman Park Ho-bae stated, “We have completely revamped the scholarship names this year to align with changing trends and revised the selection guidelines by removing the household member limit of one per year to expand scholarship support. We will do our best to nurture future talents suitable for the newly changing educational paradigm.”
Meanwhile, the Boseong-gun Scholarship Foundation plans to hold the 2nd Essay Contest next month to raise awareness of the value and gratitude of scholarships and to encourage active interest and participation from residents in the scholarship fund. It will also publish a scholarship newsletter to serve as a communication channel between donors and beneficiaries and to exchange scholarship information.
