A Man in His 20s Sentenced to Prison for Secretly Following a Woman Home Late at Night and Touching Her Chest

On the 23rd, according to the Busan District Court, Judge Kim Tae-eop of the Criminal Division 6 sentenced a man in his 20s, identified as A, who was tried on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (trespassing and forced molestation), to 4 years and 6 months in prison.

He was also ordered to complete an 80-hour sexual violence program and was banned from working at child and youth-related institutions and welfare facilities for the disabled for 5 years.

A is accused of secretly following a woman, B, who was coming out of a subway station in Yeonje-gu, Busan, at 10:44 p.m. last August, and touching her chest in front of her home.

A entered the building after B entered the apartment’s main entrance by entering the password and the door opened, then boarded the elevator with B.

Noticing this, B waited in the hallway to confirm that A got off, unable to enter her home.

A got off on a floor above B, went down the stairs, and touched B’s chest. A resident of the apartment testified in court that they heard B’s scream and saw B come down the stairs right after the incident to report to the police.

A denied the charges, claiming he entered the apartment to find his shoes, but this was not accepted and he was detained in court.

The court stated, “The building where the defendant dropped his shoes is far from the victim’s residence,” and “The defendant did not attempt to find his shoes after entering the building, and it is recognized that the defendant intentionally followed the victim.”

The court explained the sentencing by saying, “The defendant committed the crime during a probation period and did not reach an agreement with the victim.”

A is known to have appealed the court’s decision.
