[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] The police have launched an investigation after a false report claiming that an explosive device was installed on a Korean Air flight at Incheon International Airport was received.
According to the Incheon Airport Police Unit on the 21st, at around 2:25 PM that day, a report was received via 112 that an explosive device had been placed on a Korean Air flight at Incheon International Airport.
The airport information desk received this contact from a man in his 20s identified as Mr. A and requested the police to investigate.
Police investigation revealed that there was no ticket issuance information related to Mr. A. The call originated from a public phone inside a psychiatric hospital in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon.
A police official stated, "Mr. A is being investigated on suspicion of making a false report," adding, "We plan to conduct the investigation in cooperation with the psychiatric hospital."
