Lower Classroom Temperature by 1.5 Degrees? ... Ulsan Office of Education Runs '100-Day Challenge' Climate Crisis Response Practice Classes Ulsan Office of Education.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is operating a classroom temperature reduction 1.5-degree 100-day challenge practice class to respond to the climate crisis and realize carbon neutrality.

This idea came from a policy debate held last year by the Ulsan Office of Education to promote carbon neutrality and respond to the climate crisis.

The Office of Education decided to select 100 elementary, middle, and high school classes to implement the 'Classroom Temperature Reduction 1.5-degree 100-day Challenge Practice Task' proposed by students at the debate, and provide each class with 500,000 KRW for class operation expenses necessary to run practice menus related to carbon neutrality and climate change.

The selected classes will choose practice task menus to build consensus on carbon neutrality and climate crisis response, and carry out tasks for a sustainable and good life that can be spread to homes and schools over 100 days until September.

The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education selected 25 final practice task menus for responding to the climate crisis and achieving carbon neutrality.

Community-linked activities include 'Climate Bicycle Challenge' and 'Student Environmental Activist Training'; activities for carbon neutrality include 'The Smallest Expo in the World', 'Earth Love Day', and 'Reducing Air Conditioner Use'; energy-saving activities include 'Sweet Energy Saving' and 'Creating an Energy Savings Account', among others.

The Ulsan Office of Education plans to hold a sharing meeting in December to share the results of ecological environment and climate crisis response education achievements at schools.

An official from the Office of Education said, "Through the class menu practices proposed by students to respond to the climate crisis, we will raise awareness of the seriousness of climate change and support students, the future generation, to take responsible actions for the environment and life."
