Selected as an Excellent Performing Organization for "Sharing and Dreams" Last Year
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Boseong-gun Senior Welfare Center (Director Park Chan-sook) announced on the 20th that it was selected as an excellent performing institution in the "Sharing and Dream" contest project for creating a happy world together, supported by Jeonnam Samsung Electronics and the Community Chest of Korea, receiving a plaque and a prize of 20 million won.
Last year, Boseong-gun Senior Welfare Center was selected for the "Sharing and Dream" contest project and promoted a pilot project for travel helpers for mobility-impaired individuals called "Project Name: It's Not a Dream Anymore~ Now I Can Go Too, The Place I Dreamed Of!" This project supported elderly people with mobility difficulties to comfortably tour tourist sites using electric wheelchairs.
This project was led by Boseong-gun Senior Welfare Center in consortium with the Woosung Nanum Foundation, Gwangju Nam-gu Senior Welfare Center, and Jangseong-gun Senior Welfare Center, providing opportunities for over 2,500 mobility-impaired individuals to explore travel destinations they had long wished to visit, receiving warm responses from local residents.
Travel helper Choi Seung-jin (helper at Boseong-gun Senior Welfare Center) said, "I used to only receive help, but now I had the opportunity to help those with mobility difficulties, and I was able to volunteer with joy."
Director of Boseong-gun Senior Welfare Center (Park Chan-sook) said, "We will do our best to design and plan programs so that the elderly who provide services, the elderly with mobility difficulties who receive services, and all the elderly in our region can design and plan the dreams of their beautiful youth through this opportunity, laying the foundation for a happy youth."
