2.045 Million Doses of Pfizer Vaccine Arrive in Korea Today

According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters on the 19th, as of the end of this month, 29.8% of the 11.81 million people aged 60 and over, who are due for their vaccination, have completed the 4th dose. The 4th dose vaccination rate for those aged 80 and over was 48.6%, meaning about 5 out of 10 people have been vaccinated.
The government began administering the 4th dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to elderly people aged 60 and over from the 14th of last month. Vaccination can be done at least 4 months (120 days) after the 3rd dose, and it is possible to receive either the messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine or the Novavax vaccine.
The 80 and over age group, with a fatality rate of 2.68%, is strongly recommended to receive the 4th dose.
By age group, the vaccination rate compared to the target population was highest among those aged 80 and over at 48.6%, followed by those in their 70s (38.6%) and 60s (18.9%).
Meanwhile, 2,045,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be imported into the country today through Incheon Airport. Including this shipment, a total of 20.58 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine have been imported into the country this year.
