[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 19th that it conducted the '2022 Visiting Population Education' at Jeonbuk Science College on the 18th to respond to changes in population structure and foster a family-friendly atmosphere.
This education, held for about 30 university students, was designed to inform them about changes in population structure and to help form rational and desirable values and attitudes related to population, marriage, childbirth, and family.
On the day of the education, Lee Seung-woo, a lecturer from the Population and Future Policy Research Institute, a specialized population education organization, was invited to give a lecture.
The lecturer explained the importance of population policy with topics such as overall understanding of population and the value of family, emphasizing the role of family in solving population problems, work-family balance, excellent overseas cases, and the role of local governments.
A city official said, "As low birthrate and aging phenomena intensify, it is a time when empathy and concern about population issues are necessary," adding, "We hope this education will serve as an opportunity for the 2030 generation, who will be responsible for the future, to form family-friendly values such as marriage, childbirth, and parenting."
Meanwhile, the city is implementing various population policy projects in preparation for low birthrate and aging, including childbirth incentives, relocation support funds, interest support for newlywed lease loans, scholarships and job-seeking support funds for university freshmen, and congratulatory gifts for birth registration.
