The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials Announces Open Recruitment for Grade 6 Investigators in 2022... Up to 10 Positions Available Gwacheon Government Complex, Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials.

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin, Legal Affairs Specialist] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency (HCIA) has opened a public recruitment to increase the number of investigators.

On the 19th, HCIA announced that it will publicly recruit Grade 6 investigators to perform investigation and inquiry duties, with up to 10 positions available.

This investigator recruitment is an additional staffing effort to fully fill the HCIA investigator quota of 40, following the hiring of 14 investigators in the second half of last year.

As of today, HCIA has 33 investigators. However, one of them is scheduled to return to the prosecution in August, and another investigator has expressed their intention to resign, making it necessary to recruit about 10 investigators to fill the quota.

The eligibility criteria for this public investigator recruitment are ▲ lawyers holding a lawyer’s license ▲ public officials of Grade 6 (or equivalent) or higher who have experience performing investigation or inquiry duties as defined by HCIA regulations ▲ individuals with more than 7 years of practical experience in inquiry duties as defined by HCIA regulations.

HCIA investigators perform duties as judicial police officers, investigating suspects, criminal facts, and evidence when there is a determination of criminal suspicion related to crimes by high-ranking officials. The term of office is 6 years, renewable, and the retirement age is 60.

The recruitment will be conducted through an open competitive career hiring process, proceeding in the order of announcement and application → document screening → interview.

The announcement period is from the 20th to the 10th of next month, and applications can be submitted from June 2 to June 10.

The announcement can be found on the HCIA website or Nara Ilteo, and applications are processed through an online application specialist site.

Kim Jin-wook, head of HCIA, urged, "We ask capable talents with a strong sense of public service and mission to join us on the journey of laying the foundation for HCIA as a human rights-friendly investigative agency trusted by the public."
