[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Kyung-jun] Shin Ja-yong, Head of the Litigation Department at Seoul High Prosecutors' Office (age 50, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 28), was appointed on the 18th as the Director of the Prosecutor's Office at the Ministry of Justice, a key position overseeing personnel and budget matters of the prosecution.

Deputy Director Shin worked closely with President Yoon Seok-yeol during the 2016-2017 'State Affairs Manipulation' special investigation team, and during the time when President Yoon was the Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office and Han Dong-hoon was the 3rd Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Central District Prosecutors' Office, he served as the Head of the Special Investigation Division 1 at the Central District Prosecutors' Office, managing practical investigations into deep-rooted evils during the Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye administrations.

Having served as the Head of Policy Planning at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office and as the Director of the Prosecutor's Office at the Ministry of Justice, he is recognized for his expertise not only in investigations but also in planning. After serving as the 1st Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, Deputy Director Shin was demoted to a local office following the prosecution's investigation phase of the Cho Kuk family and recently served as the head of the preparation team for Minister Han's confirmation hearing.
