Twelve students from the Department of Aviation Service at Silla University will serve as parade assistants at the opening ceremony of the 26th Gijang Anchovy Festival, a local festival.
In response to the impact of COVID-19, local youths from Silla University are providing support to ensure the successful hosting of the Gijang Anchovy Festival, which is being held for the first time in three years.
The Gijang Anchovy Festival, the nation’s first seafood food festival since 1997, will be held for three days from the 20th to the 22nd at Daebyeon Port in Gijang-eup this year.
Starting with the opening ceremony at 7 p.m. on the 20th and a fishing boat sea parade featuring Silla University students, a variety of attractions and programs such as barehanded live fish catching experiences, celebratory performances, and a song festival will be held.
Kim Geunna, a student from the Department of Aviation Service participating in the event, said, “Based on the service education and practical experience I have learned at school, I will do my best to successfully lead this parade and contribute to promoting the region.”
Jung Heekyung, head of the Department of Aviation Service, said, “We are pleased that our students are participating in the Gijang Anchovy Festival, which is being held for the first time in three years. We will continue to actively participate in promoting our region with our students.”
The Department of Aviation Service at Silla University is involved in various projects to nurture local professionals who will lead global aviation services through close cooperation with major domestic airlines such as Air Busan, T’way Air, and Air Premia, as well as airport ground handling companies.
