Jeong Hyuntaek, Independent Candidate for Gurye County Governor, Says "Innovative and Bold Policies Are Needed" Jeong Hyuntaek Independent Candidate for Gurye County Governor.

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Gurye County Governor election is gaining traction with the analysis of a two-strong, one-middle race following unification, and it is expected that the residents' interest in how the election will unfold will intensify.

Independent candidate Jeong Hyuntaek, who entered the Gurye County Governor election, conducted a public opinion poll among residents on the 11th with preliminary candidates Kim Songsik and Lee Changho for unification, receiving 29% of the vote and being selected as the unified candidate.

All five candidates, including Democratic Party candidate Kim Sunho and independent candidate Jeon Gyeongtae, participated in the poll, but the vote percentages of the other four candidates were not disclosed.

In response, the two candidates who were not selected immediately accepted the results and declared their support for Jeong Hyuntaek’s election by accepting the position of campaign committee chairman.

In particular, candidate Lee Changho expressed his thoughts through a text message sent to all residents late at night.

Lee pledged to support candidate Jeong and vowed to continue efforts for a fair and non-divisive Gurye, showing the demeanor of a senior local politician.

Jeong Hyuntaek, who successfully passed the candidate unification phase with the flagship pledge of “Attracting Seoul National University Hospital to Gurye,” has served as a public official at Gurye County Office for 32 years and retired as a senior secretary.

Candidate Jeong said, “For a long time, Gurye’s politics have been marked by division, which has caused wounds and political disgust among residents, so I will definitely seek harmony for Gurye’s development.”

He added, “I also feel a strong sense of crisis about local extinction. If things continue as they are, I don’t know if Gurye will remain as Gurye. The next 10 years are critical in determining Gurye’s fate, and this urgency led me to run for county governor.”

Candidate Jeong emphasized, “To prevent Gurye’s extinction, calm policies are not enough; innovative and bold policy implementation is necessary.”
