Free Temporary Opening for Gijang Residents from June 1 to 15, 'Grand Open' on June 16
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The 'Jeonggwan Aqua Dream Park,' equipped with the largest indoor complex swimming pool in Korea, currently under construction in Gijang-gun, Busan, is entering the final countdown to its opening.
Gijang-gun announced on the 18th that it is accelerating preparations for the June opening.
Started in June 2020, the 'Jeonggwan Aqua Dream Park' is being built with a total project cost of 52.4 billion KRW, spanning from one basement floor to two above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 11,567㎡.
It consists of the largest indoor swimming pool in Korea with 27 lanes, including a 50m 3-lane pool, a 25m 19-lane pool, and a 5-lane infant pool, as well as indoor sports facilities, Mulbit Plaza, and an outdoor kids pool among other auxiliary facilities.
Gijang-gun plans to complete administrative procedures related to building completion within this month, organize internal facilities and operation programs, and temporarily open free of charge to residents from June 1 to 15. The official opening is scheduled for June 16.
During the temporary opening, the indoor swimming pool, indoor sports facilities, and fitness programs will be available free of charge.
The indoor swimming pool will operate a total of 40 swimming lesson classes, including infant classes, children’s classes, beginner, intermediate, and advanced adult classes, and adult aqua aerobics classes.
Additionally, survival swimming programs aimed at enhancing children’s and adolescents’ water adaptability and self-life protection skills in emergency situations will be offered. After the official opening, the survival swimming program will be expanded to cover all kindergarten and elementary, middle, and high school students, starting with daycare center children.
The water quality of the indoor swimming pool is excellent. It is purified using an underground water purification system, allowing visitors to enjoy water as clean as hot spring water.
The indoor sports facilities include a gym (Milon zone, weight zone) and four GX rooms. The gym features the Milon zone, a state-of-the-art personalized automatic exercise equipment reflecting the latest trends, enabling efficient and safe workouts tailored to individual physical conditions.
The GX rooms offer a total of 10 classes, including popular large equipment Pilates, small equipment yoga, and fitness dance.
Additionally, at the building entrance, there is Mulbit Plaza designed as a rose garden; in the center of the building, an outdoor kids pool and cafeteria usable year-round; and the entire rooftop is decorated as a rose park.
Gijang-gun will operate a free shuttle bus during the temporary opening period to facilitate convenient use of the facilities by residents. After the official opening on June 16, registered members and others will also be able to use the shuttle bus.
However, during the temporary opening, the swimming pool will limit admission to 350 people per hour, and the gym to 100 people per hour.
A Gijang-gun official stated, “We are currently finalizing administrative procedures related to building completion and are meticulously inspecting and supplementing to ensure it becomes the best sports facility in the country,” adding, “We will promote it to become the best sports facility nationwide beyond Gijang-gun to increase satisfaction among residents and users.”
