[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Lee Jae-myung, the General Election Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, promised on the 18th, ahead of the June 1 local elections, to "make the 'Democratic Party run again'."

On the same day, Chairman Lee pledged reflection and awakening through social networking services (SNS).

He said, "We understand well why you punished the Democratic Party by choosing a judge rather than a worker in the last election," adding, "You trusted the Democratic Party and gave it authority, but even the Democratic Party you trusted did not satisfy you." He continued, "We were wrong. We were complacent and arrogant," and stated, "I reflect with a heart full of remorse."

Chairman Lee said, "What our Democratic Party must do is clear," adding, "Stop the wasteful political strife and work properly focusing solely on the lives of the people."

He said, "If we cannot work properly according to the sovereign's command, the Democratic Party is finished," and "The people will no longer endure even with just a cane."

Chairman Lee said, "If the Democratic Party regains its spirit, the lives of the people will improve without hindrance," and "The progress of our history has always been when the democratic camp awakens."

He said, "Right now, our Democratic Party is reflecting and awakening desperately," and "We will never disappoint the last chance given by the people."
